Black is a pretty standard New York uniform color. If not wearing all black, it's pretty typical for me and most other New Yorkers to have black somewhere in the outfit. Obviously lately I have been feeling a black and white vibe without necessarily realizing it. I've been finding myself more recently drawn to wear my black turtleneck everyday and with everything, going back to the basics. Just simple and WARM, which was convenient in this occasion as it began to snow five minutes after we wrapped up shooting in Midtown. Enjoy Xx
I'm a product of the 80's... Right down to my natural curl pattern. I don't wear it curly because I often feel like 1. I stepped out of a scene of Pretty women (before Julia Roberts hit Rodeo Drive) or 2. I remind myself of Animal from The Muppets. However, I know this is not the case as I receive a slew of compliments and am frequently asked what products I use to achieve my curl. Us caurly haired peeps are constantly fitting frizz and a consistent curl pattern. Again, being that my chosen trade for many years was hairdressing, I know what products to go to help... And your welcome, I figured I'd share.
My little Concoction is Fatboy Perfect Putty and Redken's Argan Oil. I use Fatboy because it has a matte finish and amazing hold with out ever giving the appearance of product in my hair. No 90'S gelled perm hair here thanks!! It's a wonder product plus it smells delicious! I also use Argan oil to tame the frizz and add moisture which most textured hair lacks. Here's how I apply...
Step by Step:
1. When hair is wet or damp emulsify Fatboy Perfect Putty and Argan Oil together in palm. Make sure to completely emulsify the two together! I TYPICALLY TAKE ABOUT A penny SIZE AMOUNT OF FATBOY PERFECT PUTTY AND THREE PUMPS OF THE ARGAN OIL - Amount depends on hair texture and length. Start with less and add more along the way if unsure.
2. With head turned over- scrunch hair enhancing natural curl pattern.
3. Flip head bak over and repeat - Continuing to repeat several times as hair begins to dry (3-5 times).
4. Voila!!! Beautiful texture and hold wiith out frizz. That easy with the right products!
I don't know about ya'll but with Winter's cold bite, I aspire to be as comfortable as possible. I love that capes allow us to ESSENTIALLY wear blankets as clothing items and it's deemed appropriate. I get bored wearing turtlenecks, sweaters, or jackets. This is another versatile option to throw to the mix. Enjoy my casual day in Tribecca with Evan. Xx
Sometimes things take an unexpected turn and all you can do is hold on for your dear life and manage the best you can. For me, that turn was a new job - one that I never intended to fall into. It's been an exciting new challenge and I've been enjoying every second. I began working as a stylist at a men's wear personal shopping company called Trunk Club.
It may not come as too big of a surprise that I fell into something that deals in clothes and styling but with the chaos of settling into a new position, some things had to be sacrificed. That sacrifice was my beloved blog. But I am back and back with a vengeance ;)
So what other way to get back into the swing of things than to shoot in my new office. Evan and I decided on a more or less impromptu shoot at my new work home The Mansion on Madison on a casual Friday. so Enjoy Xx
It's about the whole package from head to toe- or nails. Nail art doesn't have to be cheesy anymore and nail salons are taking things up a notch. I recently visited Paint Box where manicures become an experience. From the ambiance to the nail art look-book with this season's curated collection, the whole vibe transcends the experience from being just another manicure to completing your style/look. The bonus is it's not outrageously expensive and you're served champagne or wine during your appointment (I'm sold just on that)!
My point ladies- Whether you're in New York or not.. Your nails are a part of the whole picture. It's one of the first things people look at, so don't neglect them. Have fun with them. Just don't paint rainbows, flowers, and shit on them!
The inner wannabe rockstar/badass wants to come out from time to time. Was feeling a bit more edgy in this outfit, but I throw on my leather jacket with just about anything and it automatically makes the outfit. It's my go to piece ALWAYS! Enjoy the look! Xx
We've moved on from the days of the arm party and are on to bigger and better things... adding spunk with our ear jewelry. Yep, that's what I said. It's all about what's going on with the ear lobes. From multiple/interesting piercings, edgy and delicate rings, to statement jewelry--the 'fashion crowd's' focus is back on the ears again. Although you could say it's a bit more refined from when it was big during the Punk era.
Yet it doesn't end with the ears. 'It girls' and celebrities are rocking the nose piercings, particularly the septum. But I'll just stick to my ears for the time being. After adding a new piercing, I splurged and bought my ears some new treats. I scoured the internet and multiple stores looking for "the right" fixtures for these little ears of mine. And Voila, I found them via Wendy Nichol and Pamela Love. Find your own style and spunk up those ears!
It's cooling down and all I want to do is cuddle up in something cozy and warm! Looking stylish while doing so isn't always conducive. However, who said buying a sweater questionably oversized and pretending you were at home in your Snuggie while in public couldn't be well played? Not I. Xx
Trenches are the ultimate fall outerwear! Trench coats are comfortable, lightweight, and versatile to throw on over your outfit to complete any effortlessly chic fall look. Wear it with a dressy outfit or jeans and a button down like I did. Xx
I am dreaming of Oxfords and Loafers at the moment! I want to wear them with everything from a dress with knee high socks like a school girl, to skinny jeans and a button down. It's another shoe trend that is giving our feet a rest from the ever painful heels! Praise God!
This is one of my favorite shoots that we have done thus far. We decided last minute to take a trip out to Dumbo, Brooklyn to get a different feel of the city. And we got just that! The background almost seems fake. Back to the outfit though, I have a soft spot for wide legged trousers and have a few pairs in my non-existent closet. I have a tendency to be immediately drawn to them if spotted shopping in a store or online. It's like moth to a flame or cake for a fat kid. I just love wide legged pants, need I say more? Enjoy the images. Xx
It's pretty self explanatory via the image why these two items are my new obsessions. My new Frends Layla headphones are perfect for my daily commute on the subway (when I pretend like I can't hear anything the creeper next to me is saying because I am too into my music). Not only do they look pretty rad, but the sound is on point too. The bonus is that the caps are interchangeable.
And where can one go wrong with a Tom Ford lipstick? It's a bit of a splurge at $50 a pop, but their lipsticks are amazing! This particular color is the Matte Black Dahlia from the Fall Collection and is limited edition. I suggest you get it while you can!
I don't know about you, but I normally categorize Peplums for work associated settings and more conservative events. But! A Peplum mixed with a pair of skinny jeans and heels can actually work well for many social functions. Including those casual drinks with friends on the evenings and weekends. So take a gander on my twist, and take your peplum out for a spin. Xx
It's neither too hot nor too cold, it's just that in between. We aren't quite to the point that we all love... layering. During the weather shift we have a little more wiggle room to play both sides though. I did this with a simple black shorts jumpsuit paired with a hat and boots for the slightly cooler weather, keeping it basic and casual. Enjoy Xx
Acne scarring? Fine lines? Dry skin? Sun damage? Meet your new best friend, Vitamin E oil.
The numbers are in and Vitamin E oil is becoming the go to pocket friendly nightly moisturizer, but it's so much more than that! Not only does it provide moisture for the skin, but is ideal for prevention and skin healing. It's ability to block free radical damage and powerful antioxidants helps prevent wrinkles, scarring and brown spots. It also helps boosts collagen production and revitalizes cell regeneration addressing these common facial issues. I am no dermatologist nor scientist, but from personal use I wouldn't suggest using it daily because of it's heaviness. I however, personally use it at night before going to bed instead of my moisturizer. The bonus is that you can typically find it at most stores for under $10 and will last your for months (as I only use a few drops to cover my face). Give it a go and see how it works for your skin type.
It's that difficult time of year to decide what clothing is appropriate to wear weather-wise.... So why not be playful and wear pieces from multiple seasons? Pair shorts with sweaters or jackets and boots. Here's my play on the idea. Xx
Didn't your mother ever tell you less is more? Here in the epicenter of beauty and fashion, I find this to be true in most daily makeup routines. Apply powder, throw on some mascara and we're out the door. The more natural looking the better minus one detail... The lips! Adding color to your lips can automatically spruce up your look without even trying.
But if you're like me, you want as few steps as possible with as much punch of pigment. Let me let you in on a secret my friend, it's called a lip pencil. Think of it like a lipstick and a lip liner procreated to produce the prodigy lip product. And Voilà! You can still add definition to the lips while having the long wear, but without bleeding and feathering. I shopped a few of my personal favorite colors to share... Xx
I am often asked how to create loose textured waves and seeing that my chosen profession is hair... I thought I should do a 'how to' video on flat iron curls to share with everyone. I hope you enjoy the step by step tutorial we have put together for you! Remember the key is PRACTICE! Xx

Product and tool recommendations:
We all love to live in our maxi dresses during the summer, but as the weather begins to cool down it doesn't mean that it's time to pack them away for the season. It's easy to transition maxi dresses by adding a hat or even with a cool leather jacket. Check out the looks...
